Attested elsewhere in ancient sourcesOdysseus' faithful dog mentioned in comparison to the Laconian hound that finds Acenes. In Homer's Odyssey, Argos waited twenty years for his master's return, recognized him despite his disguise, and died shortly after their reunion, a symbol of perfect loyalty and devotion.
