A major Greek city in Ionia (modern-day Turkey) known for its wealth and the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Pirates in this account planned to sell Acenes as a slave in Ephesus, where Spartan-trained servants were highly valued.
