Attested elsewhere in ancient sourcesThe generation of gods before the Olympians, children of Earth and Sky. Hesiod names them and then describes the ten years of war that ended with Zeus and his brothers throwing them into Tartarus.
Not all of them were defeated. Prometheus sided with Zeus in that war and was punished later for a different offence, and Hecate kept her privileges under the new order.
Acenes recognises Prometheus as a Titan before he is told, which is the point of a grandmother who tells the old stories properly.
